This beautifully designed iron door dates from Medieval times, probably the late 1500s.
Earlier there was a big open hole in the wall. (Wood for heating was thrown in. Trash was thrown out.)
The green door must have been the entrance to the building. I'm guessing this since at that time there was no Västerlånggatan, just a walking path on the other side.
